Aloe Vera - source of youth
Aloe Vera – source of youth
The Mayan Indians gave the juice of aloe vera the nickname “source of youth”. Aloe vera was one of the 16 sacred plants at the time. They were worshipped like gods. The diluted aloe vera juice rubbed onto the body also served as protection against insects.
In Chinese culture, the medicinal plant was already referred to as a "means of harmony" in the 13th century. In Japan, too, the plant was valued early on for its health and well-being. Here, the "royal plant" was drunk as juice. Samurai are said to have used the potent plant in a variety of ways for rubbing. In Indian Ayurvedic medicine, aloe vera also has a wide range of uses.
